Saying Good-Bye to Friends

This weekend was a sad one at the Austin household. Gavin & Alison, our closest friends, have decided to move back east to Charlotte. We spent Saturday helping them pack and run their yard sale. It was really nice to have that time to hang out with them, but a constant sad reminder that our time together is limited. Parker & Gavin got to play golf yesterday. They played with another friend Joe. The first time Parker ever came to visit Gavin in SF and play golf, they played with Joe, so it was a nice way to come full circle. The Chafins are driving off today and we will miss them like crazy. Saying good-bye to friends is never easy, no matter how old you are. We are already planning a trip to Charlotte to visit!

Another sad moment? The Falcons losing to the Packers on Sunday night football

New at This

Well, I'm new at this whole blogging thing. I'm not sure how it will go, how often I'll write, or what I'll write about, but I love seeing other people's blogs so I thought I'd start my own (Parker may kill me).

I guess we should start with the wedding...

Words cannot express how much we truly loved our wedding day. Actually all the days leading up to it, but especially that day. So many people warned me that the day would be a blur and that we wouldn't remember any of it. Our goal from the very beginning was to have a small intimate wedding, with the hopes we would actually get to spend time with people and we'd remember our special day. Well, mission accomplished! It has been so fun to share stories with each other and say "hey remember when..." and actually be able to say yes. The day was perfect. The weather cooperated brilliantly and everything was so gorgeous. The music was perfect, the flowers were beautiful, the food was yummy. Seriously, it was perfect. And what a special day to spend with our families. We will carry all those memories forever and I couldn't ask for anything more!

The honeymoon was a lot of fun. Disney World was great and we had fun exploring it, going on rides and enjoying the fact there weren't many crowds. There were lots of favorite parts, but the best was just having that time together with no schedule and nothing to plan! After Disney we headed home for a few days, caught little colds and then went to Vegas. Vegas is great, I really like going. Vegas with a cold, not as much fun. But, we had an amazing corner suite so actually be forced to spend more time resting in the room wasn't so bad! We didn't get to go to the fancy dinner we'd hoped to, but rumor has it San Francisco has some great restaurants so maybe we'll try one here.

So, now we're married and back to work. People ask if it feels different. In some ways, no. We've lived together awhile so nothing changed there. But it is different, in small quiet ways. We now know officially that we've got each other's backs forever. I will be with this man for the rest of my life and that commitment is fantastic. We couldn't be happier. And to my brother John, we are finding ways to fall in love each and every day.

Well, hope you've enjoyed this first installment. I'll try and do this often, but I really can't make any promises.

Oh, did anyone else notice that P and A spells out panda? Kinda funny...
